06-04-2011 Dark Decadence tour

Venue: Batschkapp, Frankfurt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

Tonight the Dark Decadence tour hit Frankfurt. Three bands were going to rock the Batschkapp tonight: Crashdiet, Hardcore Superstar and 69eyes. The venue was packed with fans of all three bands.

The night began with Crashdiet. Crashdiet is a glam metal band from Stockholm, Sweden formed in 2000. They have released three albums: 2005’s “Rest in Sleaze”, 2007’s “The Unattractive Revolution” and 2010’s “Generation Wild”. They rocked the house right as they entered the stage until they left. And the audience rocked with them. Jumping around on stage – and even falling – the band never stood still. The music they played was so energizing that they infected the entire audience and got them moving along big time as well. The band was talking quite a lot to the audience. The light was dim with a lot of fog, the guys had plenty of hairspray in their hair and their pants were ripped. Rock’n’Roll just the way we love it!
Up next was another Swedish band: Hardcore Superstar. Hardcore Superstar is a hard rock band from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band was formed in 1997 and continue on today. Hardcore Superstar have had several #1 hit singles, and Grammy wins in Sweden. The audience was going insane as Hardcore Superstar entered the stage. After Adde and Jocke saying hello to everyone, Adde took his place behind the drums and the show began. Hardcore Superstar never stood still for even a second. Well ok. Maybe for the one song Jocke performed alone on stage supported by the acoustic guitar played by the Crashdiet guitar player. The fans knew all the lyrics and sang along loudly. The cheering was immense and people were dancing to the music. Hardcore Superstar are always a pleasure to see live because they are such an energetic band with the most powerful performances. I can already feel withdrawals.

Last band of the night was 69eyes. The 69eyes are a multi-platinum selling Finnish gothic rock band. They are currently signed to EMI Finland. The band’s albums are now distributed worldwide. Their latest album “Back In Blood” was released in 2009, so a few years back. And yet, they headlined this Dark Decadence show and rocked. Tonight they played songs they don’t always play, songs like “Betty Blue” or “Velvet Touch” instead of the commonly played song “Gothic Girl”. The light was bright and the venue was steaming hot. Jyrki still rocked in leather pants and jacked, and shades! He only took them off every once in a while, whirling around on stage. The band rocked the audience and had a good time. So did all the fans. Singing and dancing along, cheering out loud after the songs, it was a brilliant show and one of the best 69eyes performances I have ever seen of them. What a great night full of amazing bands! This tour should happen more often!
