Supports: Attack! Attack!; Venue: Batschkapp, Frankfurt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende
Tuesday night at Batschkapp and it was packed! Tonight’s show was sold out. The younger audience was gathering right in front of the stage whereas the older audience was farther in the back.
Everyone was totally exited and hyper for the night. Even before the bands had started playing, they were chatting all excited and jumping around. They were all going crazy as the first band Attack! Attack! entered the stage. Attack! Attack! is a Welsh rock band from Caerphilly and Aberdare, formed in 2006. They have toured across the UK with other Welsh bands such as The Blackout, Funeral for a Friend, Lostprophets, SaidMike, Kids in Glass Houses and also English bands You Me at Six and Go: Audio and have toured with the American band Zebrahead. Neil Starr came from Dopamine to form Attack! Attack! with Ryan Day. Will Davies came from the band Adequate Seven. Ryan Day and Mike Griffiths also played together in Pete’s Sake. The singer and guitar player of Attack! Attack! had an interesting way of playing guitar: He pulled his guitar towards his body and shook it. The guys jumped around on stage and went crazy, so did the audience. Some people could even sing along to some of the songs. The cheering was immense. Batschkapp was heating up very fast during their set. |
The headliner for the night was Itchy Poopzkid. Itchy Poopzkid is a German punk rock trio that has grown immense throughout the years and has an extremely strong fan base. The crowd went insane with the three Germans on stage. Not until after the first two songs were finished Itchy Poopzkid welcomed their fans. They started off with a full blast and continued till the end. They played songs off their latest album as well as several old songs. Always telling jokes and talking to the audience in between. For one song the drummer switched with the guitar player and asked the audience to start a circle pit. And they did. The fans stage dove, crowd surfed and danced their mind away. The fans knew all the lyrics and sang along loud. Only the cheering after each song was louder. Audience and band were very close, which made this show special. The light was brilliant and so was the sound. Itchy Poopzkid did not leave a whole lot of time for the fans to catch their breath but kept going strong. Fast and catchy tunes just dragged you along though. You did not have to do much on your own, just let go to the music. Itchy Poopzkid is a brilliant live band and definitely rocked the evening big time. It is always a pleasure to see them. |
