Times of Grace is a Metalcore act from USA. The band has been formed in 2007 and “The Hymn of a Broken Man” is their debut album.
Ok, the duo that makes Times of Grace is quite known from their previous bands. Both were in Killswitch Engage and also in other acts. Adam Dutkiewicz is a man that can’t sit for a moment as it seems. The man has written material for this release while recovering from back surgery. He provided the instrumental himself leaving the vocals up for Jesse Leach. This makes it all quite easy to set them in comparisation with Killswitch Engage but it may be clear that this is a project that stands apart from it as well.
This album is diverse, the duo shows themselves from different sides and that speaks for them. They clearly know how to get your attention through the album. Highlights are definitely the guitars. The diversity of riffs may entertain you a lot but it only gets completed with the vocals. A little less interesting are the drums, as if there is something missing on the album it may have been a bit of creativity on that side, but it is all forgiven because overall the album is surprisingly entertaining. Metalcore may have a quite specific sound and the have given their own twist to it.
