Helleruin and De Gevreesde Ziekte are two Black Metal formations that team up on a split.
Both of them are from The Netherlands and the first one we listen to is Helleruin. It is an one man project, which created three songs for the split. An obscure sound is brought, starting with “Invincible” which has a good balance of melodic parts and the darker side. The second track takes a bit more vehemence while the third track has it both in in extended way. A raw sound, but not turning in to a caricature. Helleruin seem to pick its own path. Also a special mention for the acoustic elements used in the music which add greatly to the atmosphere.
The second part of the split comes from De Gevreesde Ziekte. Compared to Helleruin a bit more chaotic sound comes from them, starting with the track “Zwartgallig”. The atmosphere is colder and brought a bit more raw than melodic although both of that is in there. Vocals are a great deal to setting this atmosphere. The second track “Zelfhaat” jumps out when looking at the three. It has a progressive built and takes you along a variations of tempo and rage.
The two suit together quite well. A good match by Babylon Doom Cult Records. With this release you get to know two bands that you could certainly hope for more material of. Let’s see how long until a full length comes out.
