Cloud Nothings is the moniker used by Dylan Baldi of Cleveland. His lo-fi brand of bedroom punk is surprisingly catchy and at times, flat out grabs you by the balls.
His latest release, which is self titled – seems to be an annual trend for January – is out now and comes with eleven tracks. The songs add up to not even 30 minutes – it is 28 minutes to be precise – which makes “Cloud Nothings” a very short album, at least minute-wise. Funky tunes packed into a funny and interesting sound make this album unique and stand out of all the current releases. This album is not to be taken too serious but rather a reminder that we should not take life itself so serious but laugh about the situation as well as ourselves every once in a while.
The cover of the album pretty much sums up the sound, if you think about it. The half an hour goes by very fast, leaving you surprised how quickly time can pass. Time to hit the replay button on “Cloud Nothings”. And don’t forget asking yourself: “Why so serious?” Dylan Baldi will definitely remind you of that with “Cloud Nothings”. Enjoy!
