Crimson Dimension is a Finnish formation that plays a mix of Progressive and Black metal. The band founded in 2017 and anno 2021 they are releasing a self-titled album. It is available now.

The release has four tracks which are all quite lengthy, not unexpected for a band having the stress on progressive music. Yet, the album is quite easy to listen to and does not bore you easily. The guys have thought carefully on how to build their songs and have enough variation within them. From slower parts towards the more vehement pieces they are taking care not to make anything come in abruptly.

When they have the Black Metal influences coming in they give their sound a more sinister touch. Here and there I thought slightly of Oranssi Pazuzu but it is not too close that. Think a bit more towards names like Dimmu Borgir, some Cradle of Filth… a commercial edge to it.

Looking at which track amazes us most it comes down to “Age of Awakening” as it seems to have it all. A summarize of what the band can do and this playfulness is bringing a smile to our faces.
If we have to point out things the band can improve on, it is the way they implement their own identity. They can expand on this a bit more so they stand a bit apart from clear references to other names.

Crimson Dimension has created an interesting release and when they push their own stamp on it a bit deeper in future releases, we’ll see them grow substantially in no time. For now they have a good start, hopefully they keep going and develop strongly.
