Releasedate: 21-01-2011; Label: BRIDGENINE (Soulfood)
By: Nina Mende
With some of the sweetest sounding girl/boy dueling vocals heard in indie rock in years, Buffalo, New York’s Lemuria is poised to be one of 2011s breakout artists. Formed in the summer of 2004, the band has released a myriad of splits and 7″s and one full-length titled “Get Better” (released on Asian Man Records in 2008) that Punknews called the best debut full-length of the year. Lemuria toured alongside bands like New Found Glory, Screeching Weasel and Polar Bear Club and ultimately signed with Bridge Nine Records in 2010. The bands debut Bridge Nine album, Pebble, is chock full of catchy choruses, intricate guitar work and sugary vocals.
Lemuria – with their newest album “Pebble” – is about to take over your CD player now. Pop rock music with male and female vocals taking turns with a touch of alternative and indie. All well stirred adds up to “Pebble”. Eleven tracks that are interesting and odd. A creative sound of Lemuria sucks up your attention. The weirdness of it – or oddness – can almost be described as psychedelic pop. “Pebbles” is a great and refreshing album. Thanks to Lemuria for this. Let it get you and get Lemuria’s newest release “Pebble”.
