Sivert Høyem is known from the band Madrugada but five years ago he came with his last solo album “Lioness” which not only scored high at our website, but also got to international success and a performance at the Acropolis was also recorded and released. Now a new EP comes out, it is called “Roses of Neurosis” and it is available from 12 February on.

What a timing for the release, so close to Valentine’s day. The dark romantic sound that Sivert brings with his music could not have come at a better time. It starts with the calm “Safe Return” which is a bit moody but at the same time opens the door for hope.
On the magnificent “Run Away” you feel immediately a connection. It is a song that is very intense and passionate, a song that the band released with a music video and that makes sense. Building the tension through the song and then easing out of the song peacefully. A true highlight on the release, but certainly not the only one.
“Queen of My Heart” is directed towards the listener and is more of a pop song. Its catchy side makes you remember it easily.

At last it is “Devotional” that makes you wonder. Another track that has a great atmosphere and with trumpet to subtle support it, the song gets so much more drama to it. This ballad excels with the trumpet by Nils Petter Molvær.

Altogether this release is nothing short of what you would expect from Sivert Høyem. An EP that tastes like more, you want more and more. Not ready just yet, but five wonderful tracks will take you through the time it takes.
