The German band Emergency Gate is coming with their fourth album. The band has been around since 2005 and makes Melodic Death Metal. “The Nemesis Construct” is out now.
What seems to be Emergency Gate came into the ears as another version of Soilwork. But there where Soilwork stands on the border of having that super commercial sound, Emergency runs over them and take it even further in that direction. Is this metal for fashionista’s or what? Clearly the band took advantage of what the bigger names have been done before, taking the success of that into their own sound, but an overkill of it does not make it better. Less is more. The Germans seem stuck with their sound, fill it up with confidential instead of giving the focus to work some more on the compositions. It could have been a bit more comprehensive, as the band takes it so clearly up with other names, it would only work if they technically manage to get close to that level, but that is exactly what is missing. Riffs are not surprising, you can hear them coming from miles away. That damn keyboard does not bring originality in either. Just sufficient, this album, not much more than that.
