The four Germans continue their way to the international punk rock elite: broadbacked and under full sails. A good song is the only thing that counts! Here and now! No need to look back. As soon as you listen to the new songs, you don’t need to know that King’s Tonic have built up a steadily growing following after the publication of their debut album “Haven’t Heard Of You Either” (2004) joined by several tours in Germany and the surrounding Europe. That they also managed to position themselves on the international market after the publication of “Fuck Your Neighbour” (2008) and did extensive touring throughout the Far East, Russia and the US afterwards. No need to mention the successful placement of their songs in various film and DVD soundtracks and delivering the music for TV advertisements on major German TV
Channels like Pro7, MTV, DSF or RTL 2 further.
They just now released their new album “Rock Monarchy”. With only nine songs it seems quite short. Somehow, when looking at the album, “Rock Monarchy” seem so have an A-Side / B-Side concept. The only a / B concept I can find on it is, that the first half of the album is in English and the second half is in German. At first listen the vocals don’t quite fit to the catchy riffs and melodies. The music reminds a bit of Sub7even only not as smooth as Sub7even’s vocals and music went along. The riffs are very catchy but not very innovative I must admit. It all sounds like something you have heard before. Maybe because of the seemingly known melodies the album gets a little boring and can’t keep your full attention to the very end. I am sure this album will kick ass live though. On record it just doesn’t blow one away. So let’s wait and see how kick ass their live shows will be
