Drive-By Truckers are a Southern Rock formation that has been around for over 20 years and have been releasing steadily through the years. The band is up to album number twelve. It is called “The Unraveling” and is released this month.
What you can find on this album are a collection of songs that have some political backing. There will be elections coming up soon in the USA so seems like the perfect time to make yourself be heard. So taken from daily life we hear about shootings, murder, drugs and other topics.
“Thoughts And Prayers” for example embodies the feelings that many people have after these words are spoken when any disaster took place. The feeling of being powerless, the kicking the ass to get people to get up and do something, jump into action.
Also the handling of immigrants is not left unspoken. “Babies In Cages” is describing some feelings onto that and perhaps with its instrumental surroundings also the most interesting one on the album.
For the long time Drive-By Truckers fans this album is not gonna be much different from what they are used to. Musically a steady sound and that combined with the relevant and actual topics they address makes this one interesting to listen to.
