Probably the world´s most famous and powerful synth pop duo Pet Shop Boys are back in 2020 with their 14th full-length album “Hotspot” and with a bang! The guys; legendary voice of dance generation Neil Tenant and his lifelong partner in crime Chris Lowe definitely have done it again with this gem of an album.

As much as I love my metal, I am a fan of whatever is alternative out there in the world of music and Brit musicians come on the top of my list along with the various grunge acts and legends. Once deemed as “The Smiths you can dance to”, Pet Shop Boys have managed to move me both in my soul and body along the years. What can I say? They need no introduction except for saying they´re the legends of dance music!

Listen, just because it´s 2020 and we reached the end of 21st century these guys haven´t had the need to reinvent themselves or explore some new territories in their music and style. Their sea of synth is an endless source, it seems. They do not mess about experimental shiz when it comes to their music and I can still hear the 80´s and modern Edm in their tunes without them being experimental- and that´s saying something for a band in my opinion. The Boys are not going to let you down with exploring themselves with some new experiments 🙂 They are still relevant and sentimentally moving with their new songs from this album such as Burning the heather, Only the dark and Hoping for a miracle.

The uptempo prospective dance classics from “Hotspot” are the opener Will O the wisp (my fav), Happy people, the featuring track with Years & Years, Dreamland, and absolute cutie Wedding in Berlin. I mean if your body doesn´t move to this tune especially, check your manufacturer cause you just might be a robot 🙂 I need to add, watching the video of Neil Tenant performing Dreamland live with Years & Years in Hyde Park was so powerful, he did not lose anything from his vocal performance, on the contrary he sounds crystal clear after all those years, such a pro!

I love this album so much, I am thankful to the promoters who sent us the release or else I might have never found out about this dance gem or gone back in time and find myself dancing as a 32-year-old geezer.
