Aeon of Horus is an Australian Death Metal band. They are formed in 2006 and their debut full length “The Embodiment of Darkness and Light” came out in 2008. Now, in 2010 the album also gets released in Europe.
A solid base lies in the sound of Aeon of Horus. Progressive sounds are in the line of their capabilities and this sets you with a steady set of riffs. Could have come in a more subtle package perhaps, but with the way these guys work with it, it is just a little rude. Just what is tolerable with this genre. They are not the most brutal band around but got their sound set.
What speaks for the band is that they are not stuck in the genre and experiment around, giving a mathcore influence a go with these riffs. Though, overall the outcome seems so chaotic and not in the way it brings something good. It seems a bit like they had to pack all these great musical ideas in a way to small suitcase. So everything gets pushed inwards, nothing shines to its fullest, which is a pity. As this is an older release we expect the Australians to come with new material not too long from now and we are dying to see if the band succeeds in giving it all some more space next time.
