The Birthday Massacre – Pins And Needles

Releasedate: 14-09-2010; Label: Metropolis / Hardbeat
By: Nina Mende

The Birthday Massacre is a synthrock band, based in Toronto, Canada. The band was officially formed in 1999, known at that time as Imagica, a name taken from a novel by Clive Barker.

It took three years till a new album got released, but now it is here. Finally. “Pins And Needles” is what it’s called. A new Birthday Massacre sound with a much rounder sound than we are used to. Catchy and dreamy melodies form a bigger sound that is starting pictures or even movies in your mind. Taking you to a place where you can dream away the day. The lyrics are easy to memorize and Chibi’s soft voice is comfortable to listen to. It sounds like she is somewhere in a room with you singing. Each song tends to get stuck in your head. The artwork is amazing, the colors and track titles are all like we are used to. It was about time for a new album and The Birthday Massacre can definitely be proud of their new release “Pins And Needles” with their eleven new babies. I can’t wait to see them tour with that, and I am sure many of their fans can’t wait either.
