Íon – Immaculada

Releasedate: 10-05-2010; Label: Equilibrium
By: Sabine van Gameren

Íon is a project of Duncan Patterson. He is known from his work in Anathema and Antimatter. Now he released “Immaculada”.

With this project he got his influences out of various traveling adventures. This brings the album a lot of influences that are not the most common in music. For this album Duncan found various other musicians to help him out vocals and other instruments that he does not play himself. In general the music has quite a feeling of drama in it. With different elements Duncan creates passages that really work on your emotion. Whether it is a guitar riff that builds on and on towards the climax or vocals from female singers that come clean and pure it all fits into this world that spins and turns bringing you to all sorts of places.
“Immaculada” is an album that has diverse sides and makes a little gypsy out of you. You get confronted with the hunger to discover new things and new places. And above all it makes you want to dance.
Fans of World Music can enjoy this album big time, also for people who appreciate pure female vocals and different instruments creating an emotional playfield. I recommend it!
