Zeraphine is a gothic alternative rock from Berlin, Germany, formed in 2000 by Sven Friedrich (vocals, programming, lead song writing) and Norman Selbig (guitars) from the then-defunct Dreadful Shadows.
Long awaited and finally there: “Whiteout” the fifth album of Zeraphine. The expectations are high because what we know of Zeraphine is always brilliant with more than just a deeper message. The album begins with an intro, it sounds dark and interesting. Somehow “Erwachen” gives you a little bit the impression of being underwater. Then it blends into the upcoming songs. With a soft and somehow relaxing voice Sven sings about the seriousness of life. The music is floating along right next to your own life.”Out Of Sight” has some very catchy tunes, the beginning of it reminds a little of Placebo. All lyrics of each song are very deep and serious. All 12 songs are telling stories, both in German and English. “Whiteout” is the saddest one on the album with a deep dark sound. Zeraphine let us wait for long to get a new album, but with “Whiteout” the wait was definitely worth it. A wonderful new album you must check out. I can’t wait to see them back on German stages!
