Eisbrecher (German pronunciation: [ˈaɪsbʁɛçɐ]) is a German industrial metal band that consists primarily of Alexander Wesselsky (vocals) and Noel Pix (lead guitar/programming), with live support from Jürgen Plangger (guitar), Olli Pohl (bass), René Greil (drums) and Max “maximator” Schuar (keyboards/programming). In the United States and Canada, their record label is currently Metropolis Records. Their latest album is called “Eiszeit”.
With a dark and almost evil sounding voice Eisbrecher starts off the new album. Catchy sounds and deep dark lyrics is what you can expect from these thirteen tracks. Almost as cold as ice and with hardly any warm emotions the German songs come at you. There is one English song on the album where Alexx also has a female support vocalist in the background of the chorus: “Gothkiller”. “Wenn Du Jetzt Gehst” is an awesome strong song with a female vocalist. Besides these two songs the songs are harsh and cold just like we know it from Eisbrecher. The typical steel cold – or ice cold – sound with slightly distorted vocals in between that just gets into your bones and gets you going along with their catchy tunes is what this “Eiszeit” brings you. I always enjoy listening to Eisbrecher, maybe it is the German in me, but I really like this album and hope to see the band on stage again soon.
