Saltatio Mortis is a German band that mixes old historic music with today’s rock. Founded around the year 2000. Saltatio Mortis presented a live album after their fifth studio album. It was time for the fans to not only experience the band on stage but to be able to create the same feeling while listening at home or in the car. When listening you must get the festival live feeling, drinking beers, running and dancing around on a Salatio Mortis show. That is exactly when they have done, the atmosphere they breath on stage is now available on CD. Not at all points brilliant or perfect, at some points the sound of the guitars is a bit dull and sometimes the vocals are a bit off. However it does let you experience Saltatio Mortis live. They left the recordings exactly as it was, even with a few flaws. As this album it not about getting the right mix, but getting the idea of live performance.
This live album is not the first time Saltatio Mortis brings out a live album, five years ago they had released their first live recording of a concert. This time around they recorded a acoustic concert with bagpipes, drums, hurdy-gurdy and strings. To make this gig stand out even more they have collaborated with guest such as Rapalje on “Loch Lomond”. When listening to this CD you get a good perspective how the band is live. You feel the interaction between the band and the audience and their shouting and applause.
