D.I.S. is a USA band started in 2008. The band, which was started by Bruce Reeves, known from Phobia, releases their debut: “Critical Failure”.
A nice collection of aggression lies in line of expectations hearing the name Bruce Reeves. He knows that. In D.I.S we get confronted with D-beat and vocals which are Punk orientated. A combination that sets a certain aggression, perfect for the start of this album. Unfortunately the band brought not too much variation in their playing which makes the album a bit too much for playing it in once. After a couple of songs you get their tricks with the presence of the drums that sets the strength of Mike Fisher’s vocals on a stage, ready to add some plausibility to the words. Guitars are bringing a good line in the music, forming it and driving it, but somehow they stay behind in the mix, where you hope to hear these more upfront. Especially in these moments that it is just the guitars that should grab your attention, they lack a bit of power due to this.
The band got a good base though. The initial idea works fine and it all needs some fine-tuning for the next release to make it that album you adore for a longer time.
