Progressive Metal band Pain of Salvation is coming with a new album. “Road Salt One” is the name of the latest release of the Swedish band.
Pain of Salvation is going on for years. They founded in 1984 and released quite some albums since then. The band characteristically finds inspiration in different genres and with this latest one, it is not much of a change from what people were used of. Nevertheless the band have found a way to remain original, bringing something that is not the stereotypical nor copycatted from the known, familiar sounds that are around. Hear typical 70’s influences, spiced up with s funky style and optimistic attitude. Some blues gets involved in this album as well, making it may be a bit soft, but when the band hits back with some more power you know that you can leave it up to this band to bring some surprises. Although the band shows several sides with quite different songs in one album, it somehow all fits together. The songwriting makes this happen, no doubts about that, very well done. Highlight of the album is the hysterical emotional song “Sisters” which could have been ripped out of musical easily.
Pain of Salvation has brought another refreshing album, It might be a bit calm for some metal fans, a real explosion is not really included, but this album is nevertheless one that scores.
