This time we went to Switzerland for a show, actually for two shows, two shows in a row: Same venue, same bands. The venue was the Z7 in Pratteln. Pratteln is nearby Basel, so just right behind the German border. The bands playing were FAQ from Switzerland and Unheilig from Germany.

The first day was close to sold out, it was the additional show to the Mayday show which had been sold out way in advance. Z7 is a big venue that keeps about 3000 people.

As far as we could tell there were not many people there for both days, but there were some faces we recognized from the day before.

Both days FAQ went on at 8pm and played for about 45 minutes. A short set in which they played many new songs but also some old hits as well as an Apoptygma cover. Even though many of the audience were there for Unheilig some of them could still sing along to FAQ. Somehow I found that the audience on Friday was easier to warm up than on Saturday. People began to dance along faster than on Mayday. FAQ put up a gorgeous set with some brand new songs that they played live for the firs (and second) time. The music was catchy and it was hard to stand still through any of the songs. In between each song the singer always encouraged the audience to scream and have a good time which they did. I found the performance way too short, but for the short time they played we felt disconnected from the world. What an amazing live band. The new songs went more to the alternative direction rather than the electro sound we know of FAQ.

After a short change over it was time for Unheilig. They had the front of a ship set up on stage again, the intro was from the screen where you could see the Graf walking along the beach singing before the band went on stage. The audience went wild and sang along extremely loud. Everybody was dancing and going along to the music of Unheilig. There were quite many little kids in the audience as well. Unheilig played all their radio hits as well as some other songs. In between the songs the singer told a bit about the songs or something else. Their show lasted for more than an hour plus an encore of three songs. Other than FAQ Unheilig played the same set both days.

All in all it was a wonderful two days and I am glad to have been there.
