The American Prog Rock band Coheed & Cambria from New York has a new album out. The New Yorkers named it: “Yeah Of The Black Rainbow”.
Coheed & Cambria ain’t music for everyone, it is not easy to pick up, while you could easily be mistaken by it as it on first sight sounds airy. The band has some influences of hardcore, some people would see this more as emo core, but you might not get the full experience of the band. Think of light, panicked vocals. An indie touch, but guitar violence enough to make it heavier. It has driving elements that can drag you into a song, but there is a little warning. Don’t expect anything too heavy from them, it is more about intensity what makes the music work. The band doesn’t fall for any easy way out, it goes into depths when looking into the basis of the songs. Nothing seems expectable, you have to surrender to what the band brings you, because it is not to predict at all. If you feel able to give the power out of hands for a little treatment to your senses, this album will be yours to love. If you rather wants something reliable, something you know and can place into that corner, Coheed & Cambria is maybe a bridge too far.
