Murdryck is a Swedish Black Metal formation that formed in 1999. It took until 2016 for a debut full length to see light, but anno 2019 we are ready for album number two. It is called “Födelsen” and is available now.
We have been listening to the promo for quite a bit but took a bit more time to type out our thoughts. The album has a dark sound, the atmosphere being icy cold and agressive in its nature. The focus is on the guitar, providing you with sharp riffs throughout the release. But, without the screams being there the whole would not have come across the way it does. The guys have kept a good balance in mind when creating these tracks.
Without any doubt we must lead you to the track “ Black Plague Eclipse” as a highlight on the album. The song has the catchiness, the atmosphere and the vehemence in perfect balance and has all element to become a classic. If Black Metal had charts, this would be reaching the number one position, it is just right. Lyrically the band says to describe a ‘desolate, post-apocalypse scene’ rather than it being a story or statement.
This song may be the highlight but the rest of the album is not far behind it, the alsbum listens well and gives you so much more to enjoy when listening it a couple times more. You keep discovering new favorite moments and that makes that this release will probably end quite high on our yearlist. Well done!
