Right before their latest album release, English band 65daysofstatic got to Italy for four dates, one of these in Rome.

After their show with Mono, Tomydeepestego intrigued me quite a lot. This time, after having learnt more about them, I could notice and appreciate the great accuracy the band has in carrying their music both on cd and live gigs; a lot of concentration is put in it too, making the show well steady and catchy. Their post rock/metal easily involved the most part of the public. Mostly songs of the last album “Chronophage” were played, among them “Cicades” and “Crepuscolo” were the most acclaimed ones. The closure was left to “Mediterraneo” contained in their debut album “Odyssea”. Even without having a singer, Tomydeepestego music makes up for it balancing all the instruments and varying their theme. Right the complexity of their music proved once again to be fundamental to satisfy a public which didn’t expect ordinary music.

65daysofstatic has always been quite an interesting band to follow, due to its attempt in breaking the walls between post rock, electro and industrial music. As soon as the music began, it didn’t take much before the energy was emitted and passed on the crowd. Constantly in motion, the guys made it quite hard to follow all that happened on stage: from one side guitarists Paul Wolinski and Joe Shrewsbury entertained the crowd with strange dances; from the other bassist Simon Wright went down in the crowd and played from there. Drummer Rob Jones got himself well noticed too, thanks to its energy in playing which in the end made me admit he is a straight beast. All this made the small venue seem way bigger through the audience response, which got translated into screams as well as random moshpits. 65daysofstatic are releasing their latest album “We Were Exploding Anyway” next week, on April the 26th, and gave some sneak peeks of it. One of these was the song “Tiger Girl” that, with its climax, perfectly ended the show.
