Cologne again, Luxor again, tonight to see . After a hell of a ride – or more or less stop and go – on the highway I finally arrived at Luxor shortly before the first out of three bands was about to begin.
Since we actually had an interview scheduled, we missed the first band and almost all of the second band as well. Too bad because the audience seemed to have loved them big time. the cheering was intense and so was the screaming. The kids in the audience could sing along to almost every song, jumped and danced along to them, having a good time. The second band, Brokencyde, talked a lot with the audience and got everybody going along. Brokencyde is an American crunkcore musical group from Albuquerque, New Mexico, founded in 2006. It was amazing to see the audience being so crazy the band performing. It was crowded, it all clogged around the stage though, that’s why the very back seemed a little emptier. That’s where we stood to watch the last few songs. The evening had begun early and somehow it seemed like the showcases were held short as well. The light was terrible and I hoped during Jeffree Star on stage it would get better, but it didn’t.

After the change over Jeffree Star and band came on stage. Jeffree Star is an American model, fashion designer, make-up artist, DJ, and singer-songwriter residing in the Los Angeles area. He is an Internet celebrity known for his popularity on MySpace as well as his fashion line and from his extraordinary appearance and persona while calling himself “Queen of the Internet” and “Queen of the Beautifuls”. First things first: I must say, the live band -in my opinion – did not seem to be “IT” yet. Maybe I just need to get used to them or it is really not the perfect match yet, but you could feel a certain disharmony. The audience however did not seem to care about that at all. Jeffree came on stage with a big bang and the fans went wild. You could find “normal” looking teenagers in the audience, emos and some trying to look like Jeffree, you could find punks, Goths and all other kinds of Glam styles nowadays world has to offer. The audience was very young in average though. Everybody jumped and screamed big time, sang along to all songs and tried to get a hold of Jeffree or to simply get his attention. It was insane to see the audience going wild like maniacs. Jeffree Star put up a professional performance not getting irritated by anything, performed old and new hits like it’d be a walk in the park. With a strong appearance he was shining like a superstar, even in a small venue. The light, as said before, was still terrible but the awesome performance made up for that. All band members talked to the audience in between the songs. As reaction they mostly got screaming, mostly very high pitched screaming as well. With a sweet silver glitter dress and matching high heeled boots Jeffree danced around on stage never standing still. It was an awesome, powerful and extremely energetic performance which is definitely worth to see more than once.
