Hozier is an Irish musician, singer and songwriter from County Wicklow. In 2013, he released his debut EP, featuring the hit single “Take Me to Church”. His eponymous debut studio album released in 2014, went number one in Ireland and scored top ten positions on global charts. It has attained a 6× Platinum accreditation from Ireland, indicating sales of over 90,000 copies. Hozier released his fourth EP in 2018 entitled “Nina Cried Power”, featuring the title track as a single. Now he has released his sophomore album, called “Wasteland, Baby!”.
“Wasteland, Baby!” comes with fourteen songs. Each one carries a whole lot of soul and emotions. The heartfelt arrangements dig deep underneath your skin and the catchy rhythms will get stuck in your head instantly. Slow songs and very rhythmic ones are taking turns. The lyrics are taken out of life and easy to relate to. “Wasteland, Baby!” is an album you can relax to or move along, which ever you feel like. With positive and uplifting music, sometimes a bit melancholic, Hozier is entering your mind and will get you thinking here and there.
You can either let this album fade in with the background or listen to it actively, but either way, Hozier made songs that will stick in your mind. Whether it is a chorus or a melody, this album will not just go by and be forgotten. So go ahead and check it out.
