Sam & Julia – So Far So Good

Label: I Love My Label
Releasedate: 22-02-2019

Sam and Julia found each other during a jam session and when the click was there it was the basis of a couple of years of collaboration. Anno 2019 they found a bassist and a drummer to make their band complete. The released an album “So Far So Good” recently.

Warm and drizzly songs are to be found on the release. Lyrically often taken from the life of an average person, themes that everyone can relate to. Like “Two Track Station” which speaks about divorcing parents, something that became quite common these days. Also other matters of the heart are passing by when listening this release. It is remarkable how the duo have found their way in bringing their stories; honest and without hiding behind creative wordplay but always in a very respectable way.

Musically the whole is also very recognizable. Here we would have liked a bit more innovation, a bit more tension and excitement. The surprising element is not there too often and that may put some people off. A pity because the songs are pleasant to listen to, the qualities of Sam and Julia are hearable but in future we hope they challenge themselves a little bit more. That, because we think they can. And so the opportunity for future releases is clear, a duo with a lot of potential to grow.
