Nicotine Nerves – 1995

Label:  Middle Ear Recordings
Releasedate: 22.02.2019

“1995” is the debut album of Danish indie band “Nicotine Nerves”.  There are ten tracks – mix of garage and grunge on its best parts. The record is available since 22nd of February.

Garage is kind of genres that come back repeatedly. Perhaps, the reason is influential background. This time compared with notes of grunge, the band mentioned “Nirvana” as their influence so you can hear something familiar in “Weariness” for a vocal line and even more like desert vibes for the equipment lines. The guitar chords plus light drums made the platform of the whole album. Refrain of “Absurd” is absolutely best part of the record. “Alive” track is perfect match for Guy Ritchie’s movies in the tempo of running for a life. It is sharp, dramatic enough and easy to listen. “Never stop” doubled this effect with lyrics and major riffs. If you’d like more doom examples, there are “Smile” and “Los Angeles”. Honestly, any track has its own charm and it’s a huge surprise.

The good music ain’t just accompaniment, it creates atmosphere of future legacy. I guess, there is a good start for newbies. Not be as much classical as classy. Millennials doing existential garage and grunge is nothing but touching experience. Highly recommend.

  • Rasmus Rankenberg Madsen – guitar/vocals
