Curse of The Forgotten is a band from The Netherlands making Thrash/Death Metal. They released the EP “Sacrifice” recently.
The band sets it in nicely, the first song immediately puts you on track of what their sound is. The songs all match up in line and that is suits these Dutch guys. Some parts slightly flirt with the melodic side of Death Metal, but it ain’t very prominent. Overall the band has their act together and for a self produced release I must say that this is one that sticks out over the bulk of bands bringing this sort of music. Not in all aspects the band is the most creative, a full length would be too much, but there is plenty enough to give them benefits of doubt. Grunting vocals by vocalist Marijn Fuhler are not that dominating in the band and turn a bit into the background now. They could have been more upfront to make the atmosphere more aggressive and spice it a bit more up.
For those who like to keep up with upcoming bands, this is one to keep your eyes on. The band has to work towards that breakthrough release, but for now “Sacrifice” is fine to deal with.
