2018 is full of music events, tours, reunions and record releases by well-known bands. Scandinavia never has limit for powerful music and odious personas, one of them returned after almost ten years of disappearance and this is Hank von Hell. The ex-singer of Norwegian punk legends “Turbonegro” invited few pals, which know how to rock, and released the record with not-so-pompous title “Egomania”.
Possibly, there was no better opening track than self-titled one. “It’s time”. Definitely is. Honestly, it’s difficult to take only couples of tracks and gave them key roles because the album is surprisingly monolithic. The tracks divides into mild, wild and mostly epic. Songs like “Bum to bum”, “Pretty decent exposure” and “Too high” remind you that dance punk exists. On the contrary, “Never again” sounds like soul-tearing ballad. If you’d like some anthems then I recommend you “Blood” and “Wild Boy Blues”. The last track “Adios (where’s my sombrero?)” is so personal so seems it’s confession of man all in white. Melodic and pessimistic “My demon is dead/No future ahead” changes to optimistic aggressive riffs “My ocean is future/I’m hot and filthy”. The last chords of the song made you crying and waiting for the next album.
It was unexpected but solid filthy and sticky return. The voice that declared to sell bodies to the night. Hank is back. Thanks Hell!
