Emiliano Deferrari – Monty

[schema type=”review” name=”Emiliano Deferrari – Monty” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2018-10-01″ ]

Emiliano Deferrari is a multi instrumentalist from Italy. He released the album “Monty” which has a jazzy sound. It is available now.

It is his third album abd it seems quite clear in what direction the album is going when you listen to the first tracks. Piano, Violin, Sax, and more is all played by Emiliano himself. It’s fully his work we are listening to. Yet, the guitars are probably the strongest suit in this release. You hear them drive a song to it’s highlight. Sometimes the different instruments used can come across as being a bit much. Is it there just because he can? Surely it adds diversity to the release but when kept straight to the core it is just as fine. Maybe the diversity could have been found in the composition itself instead. Here and there it appears a bit flat, some more dynamic in it could have kept the interest a bit longer.

Sure, the album is ok. But it could have been better. Interesting to see all these instruments in there played by one person, but maybe it is not needed. Rather focus on one that is a mastered skill to impress with that mainly. Less is more.
