[schema type=”review” name=”Lassen – Eventyrer” description=”Label: Jazzland Recordings” pubdate=”2018-09-14″ ]Lassen is a project by Harald Lassen, a Norwegian jazz musician which plays saxophone and as well brings in vocals. He brought a band together and created an album. It is called “Eventyrer” and it is available now.
What we get with this album is certainly adventurious, a playful kind of music that seems not to stick with one influence, but rather cherry picks from here and there. Which leads to a lot of surprises while listening the album. “Kulturrus” for example is one of those tracks that is slightly other than what you get before, a warm feel to it where you can see yourself swaying the dancefloor with at a smooth jazz club.
The holy interferrence in this release comes from ‘god’ who apperantly provided the birds, we wonder whether the credits should have been due to ‘mother nature’ instead. But furthermore we can say all musicians have been given their own spotlight at some point, there is space for that and it does have a purpose in the music they make.
Make no illusions, with its rich tracklist, full of experimental jazz they are not appealing to everyone. The comprehensity of it may not address every listener, although some of the tracks are more approachable than others. The album shows the quality of the musicians well and sticks out in bringing everything together, a fine one.
