Okieson has been playing their intense atmospheric and above all soulful music for over 2 years now. They like to call it ‘Alternative Country Noir’, and with every right because the Okiesoneans find their roots in traditional American folk, blues and country music. But, there is an undeniable European Noir influence as well, think of Paris and Berlin in the twenties, rocking London in the seventies, blend all that with what we hear today coming from Canada and Scandinavia and there you have it, Okieson.
The music of Okieson is slow. With electro-acoustic and country flair and interesting lyrics this album definitely relaxes you big time. No stress, no hectic, only peace and quiet is what this album spreads. When listening to this album you can picture yourself sitting on the front porch in a rocking chair with a home made ice tea, watching the nature and the peaceful quiet of the country side. Just as calm is the album layout. The booklet shows nature behind the lyrics. All held very simple. After all eleven songs you will be totally refreshed and relaxed, almost feel reborn. Okieson is a very interesting band with interesting music. “Cupboard Full Of Things” is just what we needed in this hectic and fast world.
