Alpha Strategy is a formation from Canada that played live performances in various different countries. Also some European dates are in planning. With “The Gurgler” as the band’s latest release they hope to find new audiences.
The band self tells us that this release “is one of space and dynamics”. And quite soon when listening to the release you feel that statement coming alive. Post Punk, drone-ish approach yet with a bit more air. The heaviness is taken to a bit more of light form in one way.
Interesting to hear is the experimental side of the guys. Never going completely out of the expected, but yet seeking the borders and dancing around these. Makes the album a bit more adventurous to listen to.
Above all you could say that this album is made to be played live, production is so-so and the whole could have had a bit more dynamic. But live is where you will enjoy it most. The energy, the passion that lives in the music is perhaps the most appealing of it all and that comes across only to a certain level in this release, so it makes sense more to drop in a live show and get a full live experience of Alpha Strategy.
