Belgian formation 23 Acez makes a combination of Melodic Rock and Heavy metal. The guys released their third full length album called “Embracing The Madness” earlier this year.
A quite vehement sound comes upon you when starting the album, the guys quickly bring you into their sound and that sharp edge that they have is showing fast. The guys seem confident in what they want to sound like so the whole resulted in a release that has a statement sound, this is it and not that endless experimenting around before you get an average of what it would be.
Interesting elements, the clean vocals are well thought and performed smartly. A good mix with the traditional elements that are to be heard in this release as well. Maybe if you look in what surprises most in this release you come down to the song “Shadows”. A ballad, but not breaking the whole album, it suits the rest of the track list quite well and provides some variation that keeps the album interesting.
Furthermore, the album has some decent riffs which gives character to the band’s sound. The proggy influences make this album listenable for a wider range and will appeal to more than just the most expected audience. “Embracing The Madness is a fine release!
