Founded in 2002 in Dublin, Charlotte’s Shadow has influenced the Gothic Scene there. They have played with many bands such as Clan of Xymox, The Crüxshadows, Nosferatu, The Star Industry, Diorama, Untoten, Soko Friedhof, The faces of Sarah before. The originally Spanish trio has released third album now called “Under The Rain”.
Gothic music with a slightly psychedelic touch is what is coming at you when listening to this album. The vocals remind a little bit of whining. No strong vocals, they are more in the background. The first song “R.I.P.” is a very melodic one accompanied by piano. The following songs are sometimes accompanied by piano as well, sometimes with a little electro, sometimes just dark rock. Slow and gloomy Charlotte’s Shadow is wandering through darkness on these nine songs. The booklet and the entire layout is very dark. The album cover shows hands under water. The booklet does not include any lyrics. Yet another gothic album gloomy and melancholic with a little rock here and a little electro there, but without anything special to say about it. Not really a must have, I think. Charlotte’s Shadow is just one amongst many Gothic bands out there and with “Under The Rain” they definitely have not influenced me.
