Scotch is a Folk band from The Netherlands that got quite some following in the local areas. Their debut album appeared in 2005 and anno 2010 they release “Monata Beach”.
Scotch have always been about more than music only. The young creatives are known for performing in various artistic ways. Seen in colorful outfits, bodypaint, in company of a painter, bellydancers or on a cellofestival. All what has been done by them. “Montana Beach” is an album that is pretty much an ode to the city they are from: Dordrecht. The name is taken from a factory situated across the river. The albums comes with extraordinary artwork, being a bit different than the usual jewelcase albums. It looks like package of building material with labels on it. Inside the booklet there are photo’s that correspond to each individual song and you will find the lyrics next to it. Scotch made use of clarinet en cello to support the music. The confidential party music the band often performs gets switched with some more serious music in songs like “Daar Staat De Zee” which is in Dutch. Most other songs are in English. Scotch also took some classical music as inspiration hearing Camille Saint Saëns back in “Simon de Danser”. The cd also comes with three video’s that can be seen when you put it in your computer.
Scotch brought a various album that will certainly entertain old fans and people who have never experienced Scotch before.
