The Dutch band Milkbar released their EP “Milkbar” at the end of 2009. The band makes pop/rock music and this is their first release since their formation about a year ago.
Milkbar starts their joyful EP with the song “Please Don’t Play This Song On The Radio”. An interesting start, that sets a happy atmosphere in foresight. Even though the song title says different, the songs are all catchy and would do good in the charts. The second song “What A Waste” is the one that sticks in mind mostly and it ends with quite a climax.
The band has some points to make lyrically as well. “Drunks and Fools” is perhaps the clearest statement made. In general the band seems to include their own piece of humor in the lyrics and that in combination with the catchiness the songs are brought lightly. An EP that you could listen to at various occassions, making it interesting for a wide audience.
Conclusion after listening to this six song holding EP is that this is a band that is facing an upcoming grow, no doubt about that, so get it while it is hot.
