[schema type=”review” name=”Radiation Romeos – Radiation Romeos” description=”Label: Frontiers Records” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2017-06-02″ ]Radiation Romeos is a band formed by Parramore “Perry” McCarty, known from Warrior. Musically they go after a melodic Hard Rock sound. Their selftitled album is out now.
So there we go, the album starts and so does the cliché. It flows easily, sure, but I cannot deny that soon I get tired of the simplicity in this release. The music is something you have heard too many times already, the song structures seem to be taken from a template and it never gets really exciting. And then there is the matter of the lyrics. Do not expect much from that either, you might think you have to do with experienced musicians but the lyrics as well as the way they are brought would make you think these are the very first attempts of a young songwriter.
As a single the band released “Oceandrive” which quite sums up what to expect of the release. It sounds like written for the charts. A rock version of Bieber.
It feels like a burden to write all these words, Our expectations of the release were so much higher. We don’t even need innovation, but a bit more comprehension in the album would have been welcome. A bitter disappointment.
