Crime In Stereo is a Long Island-based punk band. Comparable to Dag Nasty, Brand New, and Lifetime, the band released their debut, a split with New York’s Kill Your Idols, in 2003 on hardcore label Blackout! Records. In early 2004, the band released their debut full-length in conjunction with Brightside Records, Explosives and the Will to Use Them and was well-received by several punk music webzines. The band’s relationship with the label eventually turned sour for as yet undisclosed reasons, and the band signed in early 2005 with Nitro Records, owned by Dexter Holland of well-known 90’s punk revivalists The Offspring. This is their fourth studio album now.
The beginning of this album is very psychedelic before it starts out blasting into direction metal. “Drugwolf” is rocking more and has this anthem sound for everyone to sing along, but it still has the metal sound. The music on this album is thriving and ass kicking, loud and harsh, but it can also be slow and soft. “Young” is a very touchy track. “Type One” has a slow intro. “I Was Trying To Describe You To Someone” is an awesome album to sing and mosh along, to get rid of all the anger and such. “Dark Island City” is a very slow and deep song whereas the last one is fast and energetic again. Crime In Stereo is a great punk band that created a great new album that has – besides the punk – also a touch of metal. Definitely worth a shot.
