Tocotronic is an indie rock band founded in 1993 in Hamburg. The band had quite an impact on the music scene and also on their steadily growing fanbase. Tocotronic also toured the US and recorded one of their albums in English. They usually sing in German. This is now their tenth album “Schall und Wahn”.

With the first song on the new album Tocotronic is laying you down into a soft bed, padding you and introduce you to their world. “Eure Liebe Tötet Mich” (your love is killing me) is a very chilled and soft song, very melodic and melancholic. Most of the following songs are much faster. The music is rock but the lyrics add a special touch to it. The songs are deep and plant images in your mind, but they also make you smirk sometimes. Eloquent yet with a slight sense of humor Tocotronic is telling you stories. The sound itself is really good, but if you understand the lyrics the music is even better. Unfortunately – for the non-speaking world at least – all songs are in German. But even if you don’t understand it, I am sure the music itself and the sound of the words will somehow make you understand what it is all about. Tocotronic is not like anybody else and also with this album they kept their uniqueness. So enjoy when you are taken away into “Schall und Wahn”.
