Sacrifice – The Ones I Condemn

Releasedate: 22-01-2010; Label: Cyclone Empire
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Canadian Thrash metal band is back with a new release and it is the first album with the original members since 1991. It is called “The Ones I Condemn”

From the start, this album has a bit too much core in it. It sounds a bit like your grandfather trying to sing an emo core song. This is purely based on the vocals, even though the riffing seems to be a bit slow as well. It is good to say the band does not stick in their past and tries to go on with time, but is this really what we are hoping for? As in the third song “Give Me Justice” some riffs come forward that crawl out of the basics there is a certain twist to it all. The music closes more and sounds like the band feels more convenient about it their selves. A false start for the album, towards the end it all starts to get more stabile. Tempo changes suddenly doesn’t sound odd here. Riffs close better to the rest. The vocals even sound tighter, although it never warmed me enough for the a lot of re-listening to the album. Towards the end the album gets better and when the last song of the album has been played you realize the album is not that bad as thought when it started playing. I would not say it is the band’s best album though, “Forward to Termination” comes closer to that.
