I planned to see that tour in Nuremberg at the KV including Teamkiller and Never Again and Coldburn on december 28th.
It happened that I was in Erfurt the day before (december 27th) and I saw there they were playing as well, so I went there. That show was set up at the Uni-KuM a 400 people club at the campus of Erfurt University, including Born From Pain as headliner.
I was there at about 8pm and had to wait nearly an hour outside in the cold and was lucky enough to be amongst the last 5 people who could enter the sold out show. So when I finally got in I had already missed 2 bands and The Setup was playing. The club was really crowded and the audience seemed to be really excited for that show.
It was much fun to see The Setup, a Belgian 5 piece who were on an Eastern Europe tour with Born From Pain in early dec. 2009 and now did 3 “Christmas-Survival” dates in Germany. The band that released their latest longplayer “Torchbearer” on GRS-Music in the middle of 2009 did a good show and the audience appreciated that. The really seem to be running good again after hard times in late 2008 when they had to cover two leaving band members, even though their old guitarist helped them out on that tour again.

Next one was AYS and I was looking forward for one of those really energetic shows, which they are known for. And I should not be disappointed, like always that show was a thunderstorm. During AYS and Black Friday 29, who should be the next band, the atmosphere was at its boiling point, a really classy hardcore show! AYS took their way from a bunch of punk kids from Düsseldorf to one of Germanys most wanted hardcore acts over the last years and lately released “the path of ages” as 7″ and MCD on “Cobra X Records”. Black Friday 29 who released their last self titled long player in May 2009 as CD on Let It Burn Records and in vinyl at CobraXRecords took AYS on a small tour during the end of 2009. The vibe was great and everybody really had fun, not often I saw a show like this.

After that, I was surprised to notice some of the crowd already leaving, and due to technical problems with the microphones the show of Born From Pain delayed and the remaining audience calmed even more down. I really liked the show of the show of the Netherlands 5 piece though, who did some real survival fights over the last years, as the biggest change you may have already noticed that Rob is now singing and Andries (formerly guitars at The Setup, but played that tour with The Setup as well) is replacing him on the bass. Like Björn-BF29 and Schomma-AYS, Rob did some really good announcements and I really love how good hardcore front men like them can catch people’s interest and make them think about what happens around them. Needless to say that the audience helped Rob out at their greatest hits ‘Rise or Die’, ‘New Hate’ or ‘Stop At Nothing’ and turned the place into a nice moshpit again.

On Monday I also arrived a little late at the KV in Nuremberg, where ‘Today The Scene’ had set up that ‘end of the year mosh’. TTS is a bunch of dedicated local hardcore kids, trying to keep the spirit of hardcore alive with doing show like these since years.
Coldburn was already playing and Never Again also was done until I had finished my hello round to all my mates, nice to see so many known faces at that time of the year.

When AYS hit the stage with their power and empathy the room was crowded until the last spot. Another time they made the audience move and go really crazy on their songs. You could see the first sing-along, side to sides, stage dives and high fives that evening: the proper warming up for Teamkiller and BF29.
Teamkiller the 4 guys from Stuttgart who made themselves a pretty good name over the last years, put some nice smiles on people’s faces with their often not too serious meant words. It was a great family meeting and everybody had much fun. The crowd was involved, knew lots of the lyrics to help the singer out and had a great time. But still, most people seemed to save their energy for Black Friday 29.

When they started the whole place got in movement and the spirit went through the roof. I sometimes really had some difficulties to retain my position and to protect the camera from damage. There was really nobody in the room who could seriously elude himself from getting involved in that show. Anything was boiling, anybody screaming the lyrics, jumping into the crowd, just the pure fun. That’s what I call a perfect hardcore show; that positive spirit made anything possible; that’s what makes us hardcore kids feel like we can really change the world for a better; that’s what it’s all about. Even the band seemed to be a little amazed how crazy that show went, I recall not many shows that were this way (some Have Heart and Bane shows though), but every time I see BF29 at the KV it is. Thx to all the family, what a great night!
