Vetus Obscurum is a project of Numinas. He got known for his work at band like Krohm and Funebrarum. Vetus Obscurum dates back to the time before Krohm and formed in 1995. Anno 2009 the debut EP “Blood Revelations” got released.
Numinas is the man behind the instrumentals he teamed up with two vocalists for this project. Four songs are delivered and this release made me think of the one reviewed before of Tenebrae In Perpetuum. Compared to that one Vetus Obscurum stands out much above that, but their releases have quite some in common. Name the minimalistic production for example. For Vetus Obscurum it seems to work in the way that it makes the sound very realistic and true. Vocals are interesting because they worked with two different vocalists which makes the music more spacious. Instrumental it are mostly the drums that stand out, but the whole package is quite ok. To say it is adding something new to the world, there is the confession that they gave in on that, but even though this is yet another Black Metal act that brings back the old school feeling, it is not that bad to listen to. Not a top album, but it has its right of existence.
