Ram-Zet is an in Norwegian founded metal/avant-garde band formed in 1998. It started out as a one man project around singer and guitarist Zet, in time Zet attracs Küth on drums and Solem on bass and his projects slowly evolves in a band. This had let to their debut album “Pure Therapy” back in 2000. Their music ranges between black and trash metal, brought in a somewhat comic way. A little crazy and weird, which fit with the theme the band uses for their music. The progressive fast changing structures, the industrial sound combined with the vocals form a weird atmosphere. They drag you into this, as they would like to call it, Schitzo creation. The lyrics are about mental disorders and a schizophrenic patient (Zet) that screams and shouts. There is also a nurse, sang by Sfinx (Miriam Renvåg), who seems to loose her sanity throughout the album, screaming and groans.

For me personally the music might be maybe best understood by fans who like music with many layers, complexities, theatrical and changing tempo’s. There are bands that are brilliant in that way, and Ram-Zet is technically very good. Zet’s growls are sharp and very melodic and they merge well with the voice from Sfinx, who is very capable in whatever she does with her voice. Weird electric sounds and violin picking, groaning female going mental….it all becomes a little overwhelming and people might get lost. Maybe you need to be a bit schizo to fully understand what they are trying to bring across. Well done though, they did produce something totally different.
