The Devil’s Blood is a Dutch band which is somehow fascinated by all that is dark in life, as you can notice from their influences list : “The dark, the unseen, the crawling chaos, the gnashing of teeth in the dead of night.” And of course they brought this atmosphere in their first full-length album “The Time Of No Time Evermore”.
It is always pleasant when you find out something new to listen to or simply something particular to write about and this time I definitely have the chance to do both the things. The Time Of No Time Evermore is built upon foundations of old Rock music, as you can hear from the aged sound which doesn’t make the album sound any old though, instead it manages to sound modern, old-fashioned and mellow at the same time. The guitar riffs are massively present in quite every song and alternate with a great female’s voice (described as “the mouth of Satan”) which perfectly fits with the dark atmosphere of the album, I have to admit that in the beginning I hardly noticed it was actually a female voice!
The whole album handles a wide range of sounds, from psychedelic and dark as well as melancholic ones, that turn out to create an ambience which can turn back time a little bit. The final picture of it is surely a great, balanced and evocative one.
