[schema type=”event” evtype=”Event” name=”30-03-2016 Reckless Love” sdate=”2016-03-30″ street=”Doornroosje” city=”Nijmegen” country=”NL” ]Santa Cruz and Reckless Love are on tour together. At one of the last evenings of their tour they played in Netherlands.
The Finnish formation Santa Cruz was opening the evening. About a year ago they released a self-titled full length album which brought them also to Nijmegen, but then as support of Amaranthe in which they struggled a bit in reaching the audience, for these bands are quite apart. But this time they are with Reckless Love, a band that seems more alike and so come they have a more enthusiastic group of fans in front of them that recognize the songs. A bit longer set for tonight as well and so the atmosphere is right for them.
With songs like “6(66) Feet Under” they get the audience along and the energetic performance of the band makes it a pleasure to watch. Yet, it must not be forgotten to put some energy into listening to the guitars specifically. The band throws out some good riffs, but they don’t draw a specific attention to it.
Closing the set with “Aiming High” they end their new Dutch adventure with flair. This time, they surely won the hearts of those who did not see them before.
Reckless Love has a new album out and it is called “InVader”. The band has been working on it for a while and now they are back on the road to present it to their audience. Frontman Olli is the active one, kicking his leg up high followed by some spinning seem to be his thing and with charisma he knows how to address the audience as if it they are spoken to individually. Yet it is not him alone that impresses, their bassist is quite present, not only in his performing but also in the his sound, quite upfront in the music and creating a solid base for these songs.
One of the highlights of the set was the band’s single “Monster” which extremely catchy and seem to be so easy to sing along that just everybody is humming along at its minimum.
During the show,Olli speaks a bit with the audience. Some comments about the songs that perhaps the long-time fans already know but also singing a birthday song for the one holding a sign up about her birthday. The band gets introduced right at the end, just before the final songs are played.
Reckless Love played an entertaining show tonight in which they could highlight themselves well. A bit poppy on the catchiest songs, but no fear to go bit more into the comprehension with playing excellent riffs. A diverse set that obviously pleased these fans.
