Novembre is an Italian formation that founded in 1993.The guys make a progressive combination of Doom/Gothic and Death. In 2008 the band went a bit more quiet, but anno 2015 they revived it and started working on new music. This year they come with “Ursa” which is out now!
It happens again. You get an album and like it. Then the more you listen, the more it becomes ‘loving it’. And by now we are totally mad for it. Why does this album have that effect? Starting a bit slowly on you and then work its way up? Well the song structures at first may sound familiar, the comprehension falls into it later when you realize that what you hear has much more layered in there that you may have guessed. So start with giving it a detailed attention and its dreaminess will take you by the hand an guide you. The vocals float by, you hear the lyrics and they tell you something but it is not the main part of their sound. The melancholy is what gives it the strength it has and with some interesting guitarparts in there, you simply keep listening.
The band has an instrumental track on the album, “Agathea” it is called. It is so remarkable for the way they done it. You think, aha I recognize this melody and then it builds and builds. They go a bit faster and you are totally into it by the end. A remarkable track that summarizes what the album does to you.
Mysterious Novembre is back and we are happy about it. “Ursa” is so captivating, it does not release you and will be with you for a long time. Gorgeous!
