Livingston – Sign Language

Releasedate: 30-10-2009; Label: Universal
By: Nina Mende

Livingston is a band whose history originally began in Africa. Now they are home based in London. “Sign Language” is their third album.

The music on this album is slow, melodic and soft. Each song will touch our heart and soul. The lyrics on “Broken” are deep and sad. An acoustic guitar is peaking through the full sound of Livingston. “Six By Four” is a very energetic and rocking song. Somehow the album brings a feeling of spring to your heart. The music can be considered as pop rock. The album is full of songs that are perfect for being a typical song on the radio that you wake up to. The lyrics of each song are printed in the album booklet as notes and scribbling between great pictures. The artwork is all under the sign of the title. “Sign Language” by Livingston is a very emotional album that somehow sounds like mainstream but has a deeper meaning and is not only shallow and commercial. “Vula” is a song sung in Zulu, an African language. This song carries the spirit of its origins and lets you take part of it. “Sign Language” is a wonderful album with not only the heart and soul of Africa but the entire world. “Broken” is already receiving radio airplay so I am convinced we will hear more of Livingston. I can’t wait for that.
