21-10-2009 Into The Darkness Festival

Venue: Dynamo, Eindhoven (The Netherlands)
By: Elvira Visser

Into Darkness is a tour by four bands and you could have read some reviews about earlier dates in Germany. A difference with the line up in Germany is that here in Holland Deathstars were headlining and not Diary of Dreams. This because Deathstars have a bigger fan base around here, Diary of Dreams is know but attract less people.

The evening started quite early as it was on a Wednesday evening. Tonight I thought I made it on time at the Dynamo but I missed our on the first band. Dope Stars Inc is a band from Italy that play glamorous Synth-Rock. I heard from various people that the show they gave was pretty good and promised a lot more for this evening. The first band I saw playing on stage was Lacrimas Profundere from Germany. This band has played gigs before in Holland and you could see girls in the audience singing along and cheering when they heard one of their favourite songs. Lacrimas Profundere gets better everything I see them. The first time I found the singer Rob quite pretending to look cool and really do his best, as he had just joined the band. Tonight they rocked and Rob seemed really comfortable on stage. They were steady and energetic. The band members were walking around and playing with the audience through their facial expressions. They played both old and newer tracks and I think that those who did not knew Lacrimas Profundere really saw a good show which resulted in a nice crowd in front of the stage cheering and clapping along.

After Lacrimas Profundere it was time for Diary of Dreams. I think they do have a group of fans but maybe a little different then the other bands as Diary of Dreams is more electronic gothic music with a little industrial. I saw new faces in the crowd and not so many at the beginning of their show. The band is a little different then the other bands where they put a lot energy in being active and caring about the show on stage Diary of Dreams is more about the lyrics, with a deeper meaning. The band is quite impressive to see as they have less show but maybe a lot more feeling in their performance. Although I think in a darker venue with more electronic music people would start dancing now they did watched the band and some moved along on the music but I did not see people dancing. Their show has a lot of fog and a good lightshow. A good show but it did not really catched me how they did on a previous gig.

The headliner of tonight let the audience wait for a long time, the change over took really long and even after that. I guess they guys had to put on their makeup and everything had to be perfect in order to give their performance. When the guys from Deathstars finally stepped on stage the crowd moved forward and people a lot of people were really close to the stage and packed. There were many girls in the first rows who went wild when one of the guys looked at them or even pointed at them. These Swedisch guys made up for the waiting with a fast show, playing many songs clearly enjoying themselves being on stage. The show on stage is really important to this band with many hairspray and glitters they perform their show, which is hot and energetic, not only because we stood that packed. A very good and rocking show, which I had to leave behind together with a horde of screaming fans and people who were clearly enjoying. I had to catch the last train which was a bit bummer because the guys from Deathstars were not finished and I gladly had seen some more.
